They Must Be Stopped: Fake Country That Fooled Newark Into Becoming Sister Cities Has Duped Another Government
The Guardian - A Paraguayan government official has been replaced after it was revealed that he signed a memorandum of understanding with representatives of a fugitive Indian guru’s fictional country, who also appear to have duped several other officials in the South American country.
Arnaldo Chamorro was replaced as chief of staff for Paraguay’s agriculture ministry on Wednesday shortly after it was revealed that he signed a “proclamation” with representatives of the United States of Kailasa.
On Kailasa’s website, the fictional country is described as the “revival of the ancient enlightened Hindu civilizational nation which is being revived by displaced Hindus from around the world”.
It takes one Google search, Paraguay. One god damn Google search of the 'United States of Kailasa' and this is what you find.
Fool the world once, shame on the fake country. Fool the world twice, shame on the world. Fool the world for the 30th fucking time... Paraguay might have to disband entirely. Just turn in your "I'm a real country" papers and be absorbed by Brazil. You're clearly not fit to run your own nation.
How many governments does the United States of Kailasa have to fool until we have no choice but to say, "Fuck it. You win. You're a real country."
The leader of Kailasa must be the most charismatic person in the world. How can he keep getting away with this?
What sucks about this story is that I really really really want to be Team United States of Kailasa. The scrappy underdog cult that built itself up from a small hut in Ecuador, to a legitimate country recognized by the United Nations is a heartwarming story. Maybe they end up qualifying for Olympics in bobsledding. You could make a Disney movie out of it. But of course, the leader of the USK has to be an alleged big ol' scumbag.
Nithyananda is wanted by the police in Gujarat and Karnataka in a case of kidnapping and keeping children captive at his ashram in Ahmedabad for the purpose of collecting donations.
God damn it Nithyananda. I wanted to be on your side. I thought you were a chill guy. One of those nice, fun, sexy cult leaders who everyone loves and never harms a fly. Like Mike Myers character in The Love Guru. Even if you were selling drugs, I could look the other way. That would show initiative. But you just can't support a kidnapping guy.
The United Nations should probably consider addressing this at their next general assembly. The hundreds and hundreds of news stories about this phony cult of a "country" clearly aren't getting the point across. Slap some pictures of Nithyananda all around your government offices with big red letters that say, "THIS MAN IS NOT A COUNTRY. HE'S JUST A CREEP." Or else United States of Kailasa Embassy's are just going to start popping up around the world until the UN has no choice but to let them in. Just wait. Someone else is going to get fooled any day now. I'm looking at your Canada. I know Trudeau is ripe for a scamming.
